How Piney Grove Serve Others

picture

Missions are an important part of Piney Grove Baptist Church and its outreach in the local community and the world. Piney Grove believes that missions can be for everyone, including prayer, volunteering, giving, and service. Below is a list of the many different Mission Groups that are in service at Piney Grove Baptist Church.

Baptist Men

Our Baptist Men are always hard at work helping people in our community. In the past, they have provided firewood to area residents and made major and minor repairs to homes and churches in our county. They have also traveled all over our country to aid in disaster relief. They meet monthly following our Mission Family Night meal.

WMU

The Women's Missionary Union of Piney Grove consists of three different groups: the Son Seekers, the Shining Lights, and the Joy Group. Each group meets on the fourth Wednesday night of each month. We begin each night with a joint WMU meeting at 6:30PM to discuss any business and then move to our individual groups until 7:30 p.m. Once a quarter we meet together for the entire meeting and share devotions, projects, inspirations, prayer concerns and any other business as needed. We have joint and individual mission projects throughout the year. We would like to invite all women, age 18 and up, to come and explore what a blessing the WMU can be to both you and our community.

G.A.'s and R.A.'s

G.A.'s (Girls in Action) and R.A.'s (Royal Ambassadors) are mission groups for girls and boys in elementary school. Each month following our Mission Family Night meal, these groups meet to learn about missionaries and do hands on projects to help persons in our area.

Mission Friends

Piney Grove loves children! On Sunday mornings, in addition to children’s Sunday School, each worship service features a special message for our children. Each Wednesday night, our children enjoy Faithsteps, a Bible-based education ministry that also incorporates crafts, games and music. Our Children’s Ministry plans a fun, off-campus activity once a month for our church’s children to enjoy. Also, our church usually sponsors a tee-ball team in the fall.

Mission Family Night

Mission Family Night is held on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Our families get together to share a meal. The proceeds collected from this meal go to support the church’s many mission efforts. After the meal, our members divide up into age-graded mission groups.

Friendship Meal

Our Friendship Meal is the cornerstone of our community outreach. It is held at 5:15 p.m. on the last Thursday of each month. We invite anyone from our community to come share a free meal and fellowship.

Jail Ministry

Each Sunday, men from our church travel to the Dobson jail to lead Sunday School in the men’s lockup. Sharing the love of God with men who are behind bars illustrates our commitment to take seriously Jesus’ calling to “proclaim release to the captive.”

Rest Home

On the 3rd and 4th Sunday of each month, Piney Grove Baptist Church travels to Dunmore Plantation in Dobson, N.C. to hold a Sunday school class for the residents of Dunmore. The Piney Grove Sunday school classes rotate each visit to send a different class to the rest home. We share three or four songs and a short Sunday school lesson. We at Piney Grove receive a special blessing each time we visit and we pray it enriches the lives of the residents.

Please contact any member of our staff to find out how you can get involved with the many ministries of Piney Grove Baptist Church.
