What Piney Grove Offers

Piney Grove Baptist Church serves their congregation and the surrounding community in multiple ways, so don't hesitate to get involved and do your part for the glory of God. Below is a list of the many different Ministries that are offered by Piney Grove Baptist Church.

Sunday School

Sunday School is offered for all ages (preschool to senior adult) on Sunday mornings at 9:45. No matter who you are, we are sure you will find an Sunday School class focused on the study of the Scriptures, deepening your faith in Christ, and fellowship.

Deacon Family

Our Deacon Family Ministry is at the heart of our church’s calling to love and serve one another and the community. Each member of Piney Grove is assigned a deacon. These persons will be with you through the great joys and sorrows of your life. The New Testament Greek word diakonos means “servant.” Our Deacons take seriously their calling to be Piney Grove’s servant-leaders.

Children

Piney Grove loves children! On Sunday mornings, in addition to children’s Sunday School, each worship service features a special message for our children. Each Wednesday night, our children enjoy Faithsteps, a Bible-based education ministry that also incorporates crafts, games and music. Our Children’s Ministry plans a fun, off-campus activity once a month for our church’s children to enjoy. Also, our church usually sponsors a tee-ball team in the fall.

Youth

Odos - (greek) 1. a way, path, or road. 2. early Christians were called “Followers of The Odos.” 3. the youth of Piney Grove Baptist Church who seek to follow the odos of Jesus in everything they do through purposeful moments of discipleship, missions, and fun.

Youth are a vital part of the Piney Grove congregation. They live in fellowship and hold each other accountable to God's word. We invite students from the grades 6th through 12th to come and be a part of a great group of youth searching for their place in God's kingdom.

The youth have lots of fun with special events, retreats, mission trips, volunteering in the community, and more. Our weekly activities start on Sunday mornings with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m., and Sunday afternoons beginning at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday nights are a time of fun and fellowship at 6:30 pm. Check out the Youth Blog to learn more.

College

College can be a difficult time for many young adults. Our College and Career Ministry sends cards and care packages to college students who are at school far from home, as well as offering a Sunday School class for those students attending Surry Community College.

Senior Adults

Our senior adults are some of the most valued members of our church community. Our active Senior Adult ministry takes monthly outings to various point of interest in the area and participate in all the discipleship and service ministries of our church.

Special Friends

Piney Grove truly values persons with special needs. Each Sunday, our church van picks up residents from the Peace Lily group home in Dobson to bring them to our church. We offer a Special Friends Sunday School class with curriculum specifically geared towards the learning needs of persons with mental disabilities. During our worship services, our Special Friends often contribute with music, prayers and testimonies. Many area group homes come to our monthly Friendship Meals and we offer a one-day Special Friends Bible School in the fall.

Grief

Grieving for a lost loved one is one of life’s most difficult challenges. Our grief care ministry offers ongoing support for grieving persons. This ministry also offers a yearly “Preparing for the Holidays” Grief Service.
